Ce qu\u2019on y fait, ce qu\u2019on y cherche, ce qu\u2019on combat, c\u2019est \u00e7a qui nous appartient. On le fera dans n\u2019importe quel domaine. Ailleurs mais pas autrement.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>Ainsi si vous n\u2019\u00e9tiez pas n\u00e9 au Kenya dans ce laboratoire arch\u00e9ologique, peut-\u00eatre auriez vous \u00e9t\u00e9 autre chose. La qu\u00eate de l\u2019origine, vous l\u2019auriez pratiqu\u00e9 en \u00e9tant pasteur, linguiste ou biologiste.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>Voil\u00e0 pourquoi j\u2019aimerais qu\u2019on ne demande ce que je cherche, ce que je combats, ce que je d\u00e9fends. Plut\u00f4t que de me demander si je suis anthropologue, \u00e9crivain, journaliste ou artiste.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>Qu\u2019on me demande mon rythme. Vous savez, chacun a un rythme de vie dans lequel il s\u2019\u00e9panouit. Certains ont besoin de r\u00e9gularit\u00e9 et de rep\u00e8res, certains virevoltent et d\u2019autres foncent. Certains errent sans cesse et ne s\u2019ancrent nulle part. Et puis d\u2019autres font des va-et-vient. C\u2019est \u00e7a, je crois, qui m\u2019a avant tout s\u00e9duit dans l\u2019anthropologie : d\u2019abord avoir une intuition, une curiosit\u00e9, puis lire et se documenter. Partir sur le terrain, revenir, prendre du recul, \u00e9crire et repartir. Des exp\u00e9riences totales dans un constant va-et-vient : le terrain, le v\u00e9cu, l\u2019immersion dans un milieu \u00e9tranger, le corps qui ne comprend pas ce qui lui arrive. Une autre langue, des go\u00fbts et des couleurs qui chatouillent les sens. Et puis le silence de la chambre, les carnets et les souvenirs, les questions qui trouent la tranquillit\u00e9.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>Bien d\u2019autres m\u00e9tiers permettent de vivre \u00e0 ce rythme. Les grands reporters, les \u00e9crivains voyageurs, les photographes, tous ceux qu\u2019on pourrait aussi appeler des chercheurs. Ils vont sur le terrain chercher quelque chose, et puis ils rentrent  dans leur nid et le mettent en mots, en pens\u00e9e, en calcul, en image.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>Trouver le rythme de sa vie\u2026 Parce que c\u2019est bien le rythme qui fait qu\u2019une m\u00e9lodie est une valse, un reggae, un rock ou une fugue. Et tout le reste est litt\u00e9rature.
